OVERVIEW

Early Head Start and Head Start promote school readiness by encouraging parent involvement and through the cognitive, social, emotional, language, and physical development of children birth through 5 years old.

  • APPLY

To process your application, you will need:

  • Social Security Information or TANF letter Proof of residence

  • Proof of Income (such as pay stubs, Form W-2, Form 1040, or others)

  • Child’s state-issued birth certificate

  • Copy of child’s Medicaid or private insurance card

  • For children in need of special services: Individualized Education Plan (IEP), Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP), or doctor’s documentation

  • ELIGIBILITY

Please be aware, our Head Start and Early Head Start classrooms have different age requirements.

Head Start Requirements

Age: 3 to 5 years of age.

Early Head Start Requirements

Age: 6 weeks to 3 years.

Our centers are located in the Northside Independent School District, a center in the North East Independent School District and a center in the Judson Independent School District.

How are Head Start and Early Head Start different than sending my child to daycare?

Head Start and Early Head Start are based on early education curricula and years of research. Head Start aims to prepare your child for school and helps encourage them in their cognitive, social and emotional development. Head Start also focuses on the importance of the family dynamic and provides support for parents and guardians as the child’s first teacher.
